People’s Needs Post the Blast:

This explosion of earthquake magnitude left many people in dire needs:

• Shelters: houses suffered substantial damage post the explosion. Entire sections of Beirut were completely destroyed and official authorities state that the blast could cost $10B in terms of property damage.
• Trauma: people especially children, need urgent help to cope with this traumatic event. Beirut residents of all ages witnessed one of many of the following tragedies: home destruction, death of loved ones and/or hospitalization of family members and friends.
• Health & Medicines: health facilities and hospitals require urgent support. The access to medical care became extremely hard seen that the healthcare system is already facing notable obstacles. Also, medications have not been available in Lebanese pharmacies, especially chronic diseases medicines
• Food Security: People need support to be able too buy and afford basic food products as the wheat silos were destroyed and the Lebanese pound lost 80% of its value due to the ongoing economic crisis.
• Schools & the Education Sector: many schools suffered from substantial damage as well, and many children need urgent support to be able to continue home-schooling. Many families cannot afford to buy devices for online sessions such as computers, laptops and iPad. Also, some families do not have access to the internet.

-الملاجئ: تعرضت المنازل لأضرار جسيمة بعد الانفجار. ودمرت أجزاء كاملة من بيروت بالكامل، وتقول السلطات الرسمية إن الانفجار قد يكلف 10 مليارات دولار من حيث الأضرار في الممتلكات.

-الصدمة: يحتاج الأشخاص، وخاصة الأطفال، إلى مساعدة عاجلة للتعامل مع هذا الحدث الصادم. شهد سكان بيروت من جميع الأعمار واحدة من المآسي العديدة التالية: تدمير المنازل، وفاة أحبائهم و/أو دخول أفراد الأسرة والأصدقاء إلى المستشفى.

-الصحة والأدوية: المرافق الصحية والمستشفيات بحاجة إلى دعم عاجل. أصبح الوصول إلى الرعاية الطبية صعبًا للغاية نظرًا لأن نظام الرعاية الصحية يواجه بالفعل عقبات ملحوظة. كما أن الأدوية غير متوفرة في الصيدليات اللبنانية، وخاصة أدوية الأمراض المزمنة

-الأمن الغذائي: يحتاج الناس إلى الدعم ليتمكنوا أيضاً من شراء المنتجات الغذائية الأساسية وتحمل تكلفتها بعد تدمير صوامع القمح وخسارة الليرة اللبنانية 80% من قيمتها بسبب الأزمة الاقتصادية المستمرة.

-المدارس وقطاع التعليم: عانت العديد من المدارس من أضرار جسيمة أيضًا، ويحتاج العديد من الأطفال إلى دعم عاجل حتى يتمكنوا من مواصلة التعليم في المنزل. لا تستطيع العديد من العائلات شراء أجهزة للجلسات عبر الإنترنت مثل أجهزة الكمبيوتر وأجهزة الكمبيوتر المحمولة وأجهزة iPad. كما أن بعض العائلات ليس لديها إمكانية الوصول إلى الإنترنت.
